History by One Direction is a classic it’s got such a gorgeous Jazzy feel. We love how Harry Styles has carried on with their unique brand of Jazz/Pop crossover vibe. It makes their music so much fun to play. We should really cover some more Harry Styles, maybe that should be our next video? Are you an old school One Direction fan or do you prefer Harry Styles’ more recent work?

What do you prefer; classic Taylor Swift or her recent work? 🤔 After uploading Anti-Hero the other week we thought we’d go old-school with this absolute musical gem 💎 Recorded live in the gorgeous Rickety Barn at Bassmead Manor Barns
“I bless the rains down in Africa…” 🎶💓 love this song by Toto! The chorus is just epic 😍 love it when it’s on the song list! Recorded in the Gold Room at Harlaxton Manor.
Here’s one that we hope you guys enjoy, 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) by the awesome Lizzo. First of all, how on earth have we got this far without covering a Lizzo song?! I mean seriously, when we were trying to decide what song to cover next we were sure that we had already done loads of Lizzo, but no, this is our first one! And what a song to start with, she’s such a powerful singer and this really is a TUNE! So much fun learning this one.
When we realised that it was our first Lizzo song we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce (officially at least) our brand new(ish) electric instruments! Woo! Sarah bought her CR4 NsDesign Electric Cello just before lockdown started and we’ve done a few little gigs on them so far but we haven’t really officially christened them with a proper video. Jaya got his Bridge Aquila Dragon Electric Violin last year. We are both a little bit in love with them but also feel a little bit like we’re cheating on our acoustic instruments (sorry guys)…
For all the gear nerds out there we are putting the instruments through an Electro Harmonix Platform Stereo Compressor pedal straight into a Bose S1 PA (the instruments have their own in-built pre-amps).
We’ve been talking a lot recently about what makes a song a classic. Some songs seem to manage to be timeless and appeal to all ages. Wonderwall is one of those songs that every aspiring guitarist/singer learns. If you go to an open mic night at pretty much any pub you’re almost guaranteed to hear Wonderwall at least once, we’ve even been to some that have banned it completely 😂 so what makes a classic tune for you? Let us know what your favourite timeless classic is!
Wonderwall by Oasis. Timeless classic. This song is almost as old as we are 🤯 filmed in the Gold Room at Harlaxton Manor. . . . #cover#wonderwall#oasis#liamgallagher#classicrock#timelessmusic#rockviolin#rockcello#wonderwalloasis
We often get asked what Bridal entrance song we would recommend. Are there any traditions? Is there something unique that I could walk down the aisle to? These are all really tricky questions because everyone has slightly different tastes in music and EVERY SINGLE BRIDAL ENTRANCE IS DIFFERENT!
I suppose you could say that the Wagner Bridal March and the Mendelssohn Wedding March are traditional… ish. Buuuut, in reality, we rarely play these ‘traditional’ pieces. We think that unique is having music that reflects your personality and embodies what your wedding day means to you.
A prime example of what we would consider a ‘unique’ Bridal entrance is this version of Young & Beautiful by Lana Del Rey that we learned for a wedding back in October. The Bride and Groom had a special connection with this song so we learned it for them. If that isn’t unique then I don’t know what is.
So, what about the Wedding trends that we’ve seen over the years… is having A Thousand Years by Christina Perri or Perfect by Ed Sheeran unique? Well, perhaps, perhaps not… we’ve played these kinds of songs for Bridal entrances many many times and sometimes it has been a wedding trend to fill a musical gap in the Ceremony. However, some of our couples have special memories attached to songs which gives those songs extra meaning for them. Even a mainstream ‘wedding trend’ has a completely different meaning and can be unique if it’s the first song you and your partner danced to or if it’s the song you always sing along to on long road trips.
Unique is whatever you make of it. We would highly recommend having a think about what music means to you, what song makes you happy? What song makes you think about your other half? If there’s a song that sticks out for you then that’s the song for you, don’t worry too much if it’s not ‘unique’ or ‘traditional’. The main thing is that it’s a song that will fit your day.
In the end, whatever you choose will be unique to you. There’s never going to be another moment like it and you’ll always remember the little things that made it different for you.
We were so excited to hear about the new Fall Out Boy album So Much (For) Stardust the other day that we just had to record a cover of our favourite Fall Out Boy song! Sugar, We’re Goin Down is a classic and really popular at Weddings at the moment.
Can’t believe we have to wait until March for the album but at least we can tide ourselves over with the new single Love From The Other Side. We might have to cover it at some point… Maybe… We’ll see 👀. What do you think? Should we do it? 😂 Let us know in the comments if you’d like to hear our version!
We recorded this in the beautiful setting of Harlaxton Manor near Grantham. Thank you guys for letting us play beautiful music in such a beautiful space. The acoustics in the stunning Gold Room are just gorgeous.
I’m not crying, you’re crying! When we heard Lewis Capaldi’s new song Pointless we knew that we had to do a cover of it and I’m not gonna lie, it makes us a little bit emotional. I think that so many couples can relate to this song and it certainly tugs on the heartstrings. So, what do you think, is a contender to be THE 2023 Wedding song? It’s been a while since we’ve had a song like A Thousand Years or Perfect that everyone wants to walk down the aisle to, so could Lewis’s song be the next big Wedding song? Would you walk down the aisle to Pointless? Let us know in the comments.
