American Idiot on Violin and Cello — Live at Norwood Park

Norwood Park is about as Georgian as a country house gets — red brick, sweeping parkland, a hundred acres of deer park rolling away behind it, all sat just outside Southwell in Nottinghamshire. It is not, on paper, the natural home of a Green Day record.

We played American Idiot in the gardens during the drinks reception, and the gap between the setting and the song is the whole reason it works. Guests were milling about with a glass in hand expecting something gentle, and it took a few bars before people started turning round.

Requests like this one are the ones we enjoy most. If there’s a song you’ve been told won’t translate to strings, it’s usually worth asking us anyway —
