The Violin & Cello like you’ve never heard before.
Author: The Chapel Hill Duo
The Chapel Hill Duo’s music goes beyond the boundaries of genre and challenges the ‘classical’ Violin and Cello stereotypes. With years of experience performing Pop, Jazz, Classical, Film and Folk music, and a firm grounding in the perfection of Classical virtuosity, they explore the limits of what is possible with just two musicians, a Violin and a Cello.
Although the Duo are loosely based in the East Midlands, U.K., they spend much of their time touring and playing for hundreds of events across the country. Be it a Concert, Wedding, Corporate event, Party or Primary School assembly, Sarah and Jaya love performing and approach all of their engagements with equal enthusiasm.
The Duo’s own intricately detailed covers and arrangements are internationally renowned, selling thousands of copies of sheet music a year. Whether they are tackling the latest top 40 chart hits, epic film-scores or old classics, Sarah and Jaya undertake each new challenge with the same energy and commitment. Hundreds of thousands of people worldwide enjoy watching and listening to the Duo perform live and online every year. They have released four albums to date as well as numerous singles of their most popular covers.
As a Duo, Jaya and Sarah have performed in numerous world-class venues including Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the Green Note London, the Bath & Brighton Komedias, Brighton Pavilion, Europe House London and the National Piping Centre of Scotland. They have also had the pleasure of recording for, and playing live on, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio Lincolnshire, among others.
In 2011 Violinist Jaya Hanley and Cellist Sarah James met at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London. In 2015 the Duo graduated with 1st Class Honours Performance Degrees in their respective instruments, but they came away with so much more than just a qualification. In November the following year Jaya and Sarah got engaged on top of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh – when they find the time, they might actually get around to planning their own wedding!
Metal on Violin and Cello works weirdly well and you don’t get much more metal than Enter Sandman by Metallica. We absolutely love playing this one, the guitar solo is just awesome and we will never get over how excited people get when they realise what we are playing!

Filmed live in the beautiful gardens of Norwood Park.
We love an upbeat song for Wedding exit music and Still Into You by Paramore sure fits the bill. Choosing a good song for you recessional after the Ceremony can be tricky as you want to make sure that you get the right vibe, and this one checks all the boxes! Love-themed, fun, quirky and sure to kick off the drinks reception with a bang!
Still Into You – Paramore Live Violin & Cello Wedding Exit Song
Filmed live at a Wedding at the stunning Pangdean Old Barn near Brighton.
There’s nothing quite like the old school and It Must Be Love by Madness is one of the best. I mean, what a tune. It was one of the first cover songs we learnt almost 13 years ago when we were starting out as a duo and we love it just as much now as we did back then. Whenever we see this on the playlist we know it’s going to be a hell of a party. Enjoy 🙂
We just love old-school Taylor Swift and Love Story is one of the best. Don’t get me wrong some of the newer stuff is 🔥 but I just can’t get enough of that country-style pop fusion vibe that she was bossing in the early days. Love it!
Performed live at a Wedding at the stunning Prestwold Hall.
Concerning Hobbits from “The Lord of the Rings” is a tune that will make your inner nerd emerge like the Balrog from the depths of Khazad-dûm. We absolutely love playing this at weddings, it always turns heads.

We are massive Studio Ghibli fans and My Neighbour Totoro is one of our absolute favourites. Sampo is one of those songs that is endlessly joyful and always makes you smile. If we’re ever a bit down we like to play this and it never fails to cheer us up. So, if you’re having a bad day, have a listen to this and sing along and we hope it helps 🙂

Young & Beautiful Lana Del Rey (Violin & Cello Cover)
Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey could be the answer if you’re looking for an alternative choice for your Bridal entrance and want to go for something a little bit different. Don’t get us wrong, we’re a HUGE fan of traditional when it comes to weddings, you can’t go wrong with something like Pachelbel’s Canon in D for your big moment. If classical music isn’t your thing an old-school gem like Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love can work well too.
Some songs have been used for Bridal entrances a lot, Perfect by Ed Sheeran and A Thousand Years by Christina Perri to name just a couple. Now, just because other people have used a song doesn’t mean that you can’t, we are a big believer in the fact that whatever song you use, your Bridal entrance will be unique because it is YOU walking down the aisle. Especially if you have a personal connection with the song. We’ve played for hundreds of Bridal entrances and not a single one has been boring or samey.
Sometimes you want to stand out though and choosing something a little bit different like Lana Del Rey’s Young and Beautiful can be a great way to stand out.
This Bridal entrance at Prestwold Hall was just gorgeous and our Violin and Cello version of Yound and Beautiful worked so well in the grand Library. What do you think, could Young and Beautiful be a contender for your aisle song?
Give Me Everything by Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo, Afrojack, Nayer was of course an absolute banger even before Bridgerton picked it for season 3. So, when we were asked if we could learn it we jumped at the chance to do our own classical cover of it. The cello groove on this is just INSANE, such a vibe.
We hope you enjoy our version of this epic song as much as we enjoyed playing it!
Give Me Everything – Pitbull (Bridgerton Style Violin & Cello Classical Cover)
Snuff by Slipknot. Another piece of musical genius from a heavy metal band that translates so so well onto the violin and cello. This alt-rock ballad is so emotionally charged and really tugs at the heart. Enjoy 🙂
