After the July 2019 heatwave, last Saturday was a bit of a shock to the system with the temperature literally 20’C colder than the day before! We were very relieved, however, to have a break from the unbearable heat of the previous week!

We were over in Holme, Peterborough and the day began with a rehearsal with singer – Sam J Cook, whom the couple had booked to sing with us for their exit – to ‘Star Girl’ McFly. Sam is a pro, all we needed was one run through the song, which gave us plenty of time to chat about the wedding music industry. We don’t often have the opportunity to work with other musicians and it was great to share experiences and compare notes, as it were!

As well as ‘Star Girl’ our couple also requests ‘Canon in D’ for the entrance of the bridal party, as well as ‘Wings’ Birdie, ‘Tale as Old as Time’ from Beauty & The Beast and ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ from The Lion King for the signing of the register.

After the ceremony we popped down the road to the reception venue: the amazing Holmewood Hall. Our couple had asked us to select the music for this, so we of course went all out playing songs such as ‘This Is Me’ from The Greatest Showman, ‘Titanium’ Sia and ‘Mr Brightside’ The Killers. This was our first time playing at Holmewood Hall and we were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and beauty of the building – not to mention the food, which smelt amazing! We’re very much looking forward to returning in the future!

As well as singing, Sam is also an experienced wedding photographer and very kindly took some pics of us while we were performing. Jaya, a keen photographer himself, returned the favour later on as Sam performed a few sets of his own!
