Using Super Mario Bros. to fix a shrunken Cello – a very silly Violin & Cello Cover

Have you ever put anything in the wash only to have it come out two sizes too small? Well, that’s what happened to Sarah’s Cello the other day. Fortunately, we had a Super Mario Bros. power-up mushroom that got it back to the right size.

Aaaaanyway, enough silliness! We hope you enjoy our April fools inspired video of the Super Mario Bros. Theme music. I know we have some nerdy gamer followers who will get a kick out of this!

Alternative Bridal Entrance Songs?

We often get asked what Bridal entrance song we would recommend. Are there any traditions? Is there something unique that I could walk down the aisle to? These are all really tricky questions because everyone has slightly different tastes in music and EVERY SINGLE BRIDAL ENTRANCE IS DIFFERENT!

I suppose you could say that the Wagner Bridal March and the Mendelssohn Wedding March are traditional… ish. Buuuut, in reality, we rarely play these ‘traditional’ pieces. We think that unique is having music that reflects your personality and embodies what your wedding day means to you.

A prime example of what we would consider a ‘unique’ Bridal entrance is this version of Young & Beautiful by Lana Del Rey that we learned for a wedding back in October. The Bride and Groom had a special connection with this song so we learned it for them. If that isn’t unique then I don’t know what is.

So, what about the Wedding trends that we’ve seen over the years… is having A Thousand Years by Christina Perri or Perfect by Ed Sheeran unique? Well, perhaps, perhaps not… we’ve played these kinds of songs for Bridal entrances many many times and sometimes it has been a wedding trend to fill a musical gap in the Ceremony. However, some of our couples have special memories attached to songs which gives those songs extra meaning for them. Even a mainstream ‘wedding trend’ has a completely different meaning and can be unique if it’s the first song you and your partner danced to or if it’s the song you always sing along to on long road trips.

Unique is whatever you make of it. We would highly recommend having a think about what music means to you, what song makes you happy? What song makes you think about your other half? If there’s a song that sticks out for you then that’s the song for you, don’t worry too much if it’s not ‘unique’ or ‘traditional’. The main thing is that it’s a song that will fit your day.

In the end, whatever you choose will be unique to you. There’s never going to be another moment like it and you’ll always remember the little things that made it different for you.

Made You Look Meghan Trainor Violin & Cello Cover Music

We’ve been practicing some new music including a cover version of Meghan Trainor’s new song Made You Look. It has been stuck in our heads for DAYS now but we’re not complaining.

It’s really nice to be back playing again after the New Year Flu/Cold thing floored us. It’s taken a little while to get the fingers moving again but we’re learning a whole load of new songs and it’s so much fun. Keep an eye out for more new music from us coming soon. 👀

A Beautiful Day at The Old Hall, Ely

It was wonderful to be back at @theoldhall in Ely at the end of July, our first time back since before the first lockdown! We couldn’t resist taking a few snaps of the outdoor ceremony area and grounds – just beautiful! 😍

The Bride asked us to learn a new song for her entrance music, Latch by Sam Smith, we played A Thousand Years by Christina Perri, Perfect by Ed Sheeran and You Are the Reason by Callum Scott for the Signing of the Register and then we played them out to This Will Be Everlasting Love by Natalie Cole. They stopped halfway back up the aisle for a quick group photo and the Bride and Groom couldn’t help having a quick dance to our music. Congratulations guys!

‘A Million Dreams’, a school reunion at a historical venue and a Woodland Ceilidh in under 36 hours!

A bride and groom say their vows at a Church Wedding Ceremony.
The happy couple say their vows at the Wedding Ceremony in St Michael & All Angels’ Church Brooksby.

The first wedding was in the idyllic setting of Lanwades Hall near Newmarket, an incredible building with stunning grounds to match! We were particularly blown away by the beauty of the ceremony room – just look at those windows!

After the July 2019 heatwave, last Saturday was a bit of a shock to the system with the temperature literally 20’C colder than the day before! We were very relieved, however, to have a break from the unbearable heat of the previous week!

Two Weddings in One Day on the Hottest Day of the Year ☀️☀️☀️

A bride and groom play the violin and cello.
The Bride and Groom had a go on our instruments.

We very rarely get to play at two weddings on the same day as they inevitably clash. However our bookings today worked out perfectly; the first wanted us for their Church Ceremony at midday and the second, at the opposite end of the county, for their Wedding Breakfast at 4pm. And of course it would be 29’C, the hottest day of the year so far!
