Today was our first time visiting the amazing Childerley Long Barn for a wedding, and it really is a LONG Barn! Thought to be one of the longest timber-framed barns in the UK.
We arrived early before the ceremony to have a rehearsal with the groom’s sister, who we would be accompanying during the signing of the register as she sang Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’, partly in Irish! When a small eleven year old girl walked through the door we were slightly taken back at first, but she was so enthusiastic and boy could she sing! She absolutely smashed it in the ceremony and it was such a pleasure to play for her 😊
The Bride & Groom chose some wonderful music for the rest of their ceremony; ‘Romeo & Juliet’ Dire Straits for the bridal party entrance, ‘All You Need is Love’ from Love Actually for the signing of the register and a special bespoke song request for their exit: ‘Home’ Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros.
We continued to play throughout the Drinks Reception, covering everything from classics like ‘Mr Blue Sky’ Electric Light Orchestra and ‘Best Friend’ Queen, to upbeat club favourites ‘Titanium’ Sia & David Guetta and ‘Hold My Hand’ Jess Glynne. The couple even requested a number of amazing film scores including Game of Thrones, the ‘Cantina’ from Star Wars and ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Disney’s Moana.
The atmosphere was buzzing throughout the afternoon and we had so many lovely comments from guests. Several people videoed a few of our sets, one woman in particular who told us she was going to show her young son who wants to learn the cello!
Thanks again to the wonderful staff at Childerley and MANY CONGRATULATIONS to the new Mr & Mrs!
